About B.Sc. Horticulture (Hons.)

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Horticulture concentrates on the science and art of growing fruits, vegetables, ornamental plants, and other crops for both practical and decorative purposes. Numerous academic fields are included in horticulture, including Soil Science, Crop Management, Plant Pathology, Plant Biology and Plant Breeding. Students in the B.Sc. Horticulture programme gain a thorough understanding of Horticultural Sciences and are equipped for careers in a range of horticultural industries, such as agribusiness, landscaping, nursery management, fruit and vegetable production, and ornamental plant production. It provides students the know-how, abilities, and hands-on experience required to tackle horticultural difficulties and support environmentally responsible planting and maintenance.

Program  Outcome:

  • To develop proficiency in various techniques related to crop production, including planting, cultivation, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease management and harvesting.
  • To enable understanding soil properties, fertility, soil conservation techniques.
  • To enable graduates in understanding the basic business principles relevant to the horticulture industry, including marketing, sales, budgeting and entrepreneurship.
  • To enable the graduates to plot down sustainable practices in modern horticulture.
Eligibility CriteriaIntermediate /10+2 with PCB/PCMB/PCM/PC Forestry/Inter (Agriculture) (P- Physics, C-Chemistry, M-Mathematics, B-Biology) from a recognized Board minimum 45% and relaxation in marks for reserved category candidates shall be given as per GOI/ University rules.
